Alicia McDonnell joined Employer Solutions Law in June 2022. She represents employers in workers’ compensation claims and appeals, DOSH/WISHA violations, and employment law matters. Prior to joining Employer Solutions Law, Alicia represented claimants in workers’ compensation claims before the Department of Labor and Industries, Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals, and Superior Courts.
Alicia’s experience gives her valuable insight into workers’ compensation claims and litigation, which helps her better serve Washington employers. She uses her knowledge of the process from both sides of the table to help employers achieve outcomes that are both favorable and cost-effective. She derives great satisfaction from collaborating with employers to develop strategies that align with their business goals and their desire to do what is best for their employees.
Known for her thorough approach to preparing cases and her efficiency, Alicia keeps her clients’ goals firmly in mind while advising them and helping them explore their options. She has a deep understanding of the legal, medical, business, and financial aspects of workers’ compensation claims, and is committed to helping Washington employers find the best possible resolution to each matter.
Skilled in litigation, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution, Alicia is a nimble advocate who adapts well to new information and developments in a case. Clients appreciate her transparency and clear communication; colleagues admire her persuasive legal writing and creative litigation strategy. Alicia does not believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach to legal matters; she customizes the strategy for each case based on the relevant facts, applicable law, and the client’s priorities. Alicia is also a gifted speaker who regularly leads webinars and presentations on topics that matter to employers.
Alicia’s interest in the law that affects employers and employees developed even before she attended law school. Prior to her enrollment in the University of Washington School of Law, she worked with employers to help them develop and manage workplace accommodations for employees. While a law student, she was the finance chair for the law school’s Labor and Employment Law student organization.
A Seattle native, Alicia resides in the city with her two children. When not working, she can be found spending time with them and exploring local beaches and parks. She also enjoys podcasts and cooking.
